The article gives several definitions for what sound art is. How did you define sound art as you read? The article also makes several comparisons between music and sound art. What do you think their definition of music is? Pulling from past articles that we’ve read and from your own background, do you think that this article successfully establishes a clear line between what is sound art as opposed to music? Do you agree?

The article focuses a lot on the idea of displaying sound art in museums and gives several examples of how they’ve been done in the past. What do you think the most effective way to display sounds art would be while still distinguishing it from music and presenting itself as a self-contained piece?

I think that the definition of sound art versus music is very blurred since sound art often contains music and music often contains sound produced by the musician, the crowd, the size of the room it’s performed in–all these and more affect the outcome. If sound art is displayed and the audience is told it’s sound art, then the audience will embrace it. Having it as background or less forward make it more difficult to identify as such. It is still sound art in either case.
