I took a 13 minute soundwalk from Youtube through the Jochi-ji Temple. To start off, I notice immediately two things: The birds tweeting and people talking.
While those noises intermittently came and went, it was the automobiles that caused the most ruckus through out the soundwalk, at some points I couldn’t even hear the people talking, let alone the water or the birds. At the same time though, there were points where I forgot where I was and would open my eyes because I thought something was close to me. When there were no cars creating a lot of sound and I focused on following the sounds, I did notice:
- cameras being clicked,
- people walking,
- ponds dripping,
- a slight hum of something, but not cars
- car pulling up
- people talking muffled
- echos of people talking
- something pecking
- whistles
- breathing
- rubber rubbing on rubber
- another bird sound, but gutteral
- bells
- crickets or repetitive tweeting
- wind going through trees and hitting ears
- rustling leaves
- someone sneezing
- new bird sound: laughing, getting louder and echoing
- new bird sound: haw, haw
- steps on new ground
- squeaking of pipes
- water pouring/dripping intermittently
- a kid running
Overall, I really enjoyed doing the soundwalk, it was relaxing because the birds coming from both sides of the ears really helps create an atmosphere where you trick your mind into believing its somewhere else.
