Alumnae Association Records.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prominently, as the cover and feature article, in the Spring 1969 edition of the <em>Alumnae Quarterly<\/em>, Smith along with Sheryl McCarthy \u201969 and Sharyn Ainsworth \u201969 spoke to their experiences and observations as Black students at Mount Holyoke to the alumnae community. During their student years, in part thanks to the recruiting efforts by Black students, Mount Holyoke had experienced an increase in Black student enrollment, along with the creation of a Black student organization,&nbsp;a Black Cultural Center<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mtholyoke.edu\/diversity\/betty-shabazz-house\" target=\"_blank\">,<\/a>&nbsp;and courses that would constitute as Black Studies.
