In the 1990s, student protests modeled after the Afro-American Society sit-ins led to the creation of several other cultural houses and ethnic studies programs including the Eliana Ortega house, the Zowie Banteah house, Asian Center for Empowerment, and Jeannette Marks’ Houses.
