In 2014, the #MoHonest movement against racism on campus arose in response to a student’s description of being arrested and mistreated by campus police.
Small stories of microaggressions and racial aggression that occurred at Mount Holyoke were posted on colorful flyers around campus. According to their vision statement, “MoHonest aims to ensure that the College is more honest about dealing with a lack of inclusion of the diversity that the College prides itself on. MoHonest attempts to give students of color who have been outcasts a safe space to voice their stories of injustice and oppression.” The movement organized photo displays across campus of various members with phrases written on their bodies, there were also two days where members dressed in all black.
