In this website, I present my semester long research on the subject of illumination in the nineteenth and twentieth century as my final project for the course titled \u201cGendering Material Culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the site I analyze lighting objects from both the Skinner Museum and also some from my own house. In addition, this project surveys the appearance (or lack thereof) of objects of illumination in Italian literature from the nineteenth and twentieth century. Such works include <i>Un Matrimonio in Provincia<\/i> by La Marchesa Colombi, <i>\u00a0Il Piacere<\/i> by Gabriele D&#8217;Annunzio, \u00a0<i>La Virt\u00fa di Checchina <\/i>by Matilde Serao, \u00a0<em>Le Sorelle Materassi<\/em> by\u00a0Aldo Palazzeschi and two works by Jolanda, <i>\u00a0Le tre Marie <\/i>and <i>La Perla. <\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My name is Catrina Bellucci-DiLizia and I am a student at Mount Holyoke college.
