Fulnard Islands

A peaceful aristocratic nation of fishing and farming communities, the Fulnards yearly face coastline raiding from the Cinan Islands. But in spite of this, the economy continues steady, and this may have something to do with the strong naval alliance between the Fulnards and Kasinthenel to protect and kill the pirates and raiders.

History

The Fulnards were colonised by citizens of Esclaith (a long dead nation from which Cheala rose) before the founding of Cheala. Poor in resources, the newly founded nation turned to raiding the northern coastline, stealing what they needed. They even raided Cheala’s coastline during the Empire’s height, mostly because Chealains did not have very much skill with ships and sailing. 

Then, around 233, the Fulnards found another way to survive: fishing. The islands were full of fish and there was high demand for fish among the nobility of Cheala (of course, some stayed to pirating). Though the nation became more peaceful, Cheala never bother the Fulnards, perhaps because of its history as pirates. 

By 382, Fulnards fishing industry was booming and the use of magic it the industry was popular. Then when the Destruction of 501 hit, the Fulnard’s fishing collapsed but unlike the Chealain Empire, the kingdom was not totally dependent on magic. Slowly the nation recovered and by 595 fishing was once again going strong, though it would never depend as heavily on magic. 

In 728 new techniques were discovered to create larger scale farming than what was possible before. 

In 846, the recently established nation Evevion attack in an attempt to claim the islands as part of a growing kingdom. Fulnard repulsed the attack and Evevion retreated within the year. Most of the rest of the Fulnard Island’s history consists of a large storm every decade or so. 

Then in the mid 1100s the Cinan Islands started to raid the Fulnard Islands. The Fulnards formed a mutual defense alliance with Kasinthenel in 1161. 

The raids have continued to the present day and the defense alliance still holds strong. Preparations begin for an attack on the Cinan Islands in 1228 and the attack is expected to happen sometime that year before most of the navy ships were sunk or destroyed in a mysterious event that has yet to be completely explained.
