Appearance

A full eight feet or taller, Dabenu wears a circlet of ice over her black, frost crusted hair. Her whitish blue robes fall to the ground, when they seem to mere with the ice and frost that extends from where she stands. Her face appears as one who has frozen to death and her eyes are jet black.

She communicates through ice in short phrases until there is more to say, in which case she whispers in the mind of her Ciboje.

Worship

Dabenu is given worship partly out of fear for deep, long, or frigid winters. Beyond this, though, she is honored in recognition that winter is necessary for the renewal that spring brings.

Her shrines are often set about villages at the edges, marking her power of protection. Her worshipers visit her shrines if they seek protection or an end in order to renew. Those who come kneel barefoot in the snow or a flat rock, which often is placed before the shrine, and whisper their prayers. Upon leaving, they place an offering that consists of food, wine, and something temporary from the current season such as a piece of ice, a flower, or plant. One never leaves a more permanent item, such as a rock.

She is honored during the Season Change from autumn to winter. Additionally, she is worhsipped in a ritual used to invokes an ending to seek healing that calls on both Dabenu and Kixipe.

History

Dabenu is a Lantowolnt who became more frequently worshipped once the Spirit Children were free. She did not take direct part in the fighting to free them.
