I found in my research that many Modern French pronunciations where the graphemes are not vocalized as their corresponding phonemes did not emerge until between Middle French and Modern French, while <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Le Ditie de Jehanne d\u2019Arc<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was written between Old French and Middle French.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I will pronounce all word-final \u201ce\u201d graphemes as the phoneme [\u0259]. I will also pronounce all consonants, including word-final consonants like \u201ct\u201d in \u201cfut\u201d and \u201cn\u201d in \u201cMerlin.\u201d \u201c\u00c7\u201d will be pronounced [s], as in Modern French. I will be pronouncing \u201c\u00e9\u201d (\u201ce\u201d with accent aigu\/accent grave) as [e], like it is pronounced in Modern French. I could not find explanations on how this would have been pronounced in Old French, so I am assuming that where a word has \u201c\u00e9e,\u201d it would be pronounced [e\u0259]. I am pronouncing \u201cz\u201d as [ts]. I am pronouncing any \u201ce\u201d that would be pronounced [\u0251\u0303] in Modern French as [e] in Old French.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As \u201cVc\u201d in Stanza XXXI is translated into both Modern French and Modern English as \u201cfive hundred,\u201d I will be reading it as \u201ccinq cent\u201d as in the Modern French version, and pronouncing it accordingly as [s\u025b\u0303nk s\u0251\u0303nt]. In the same stanza, the Old French version of the poem that I found reads, \u201cleur[s].\u201d I take this to mean that Pisan wrote \u201cleur,\u201d and it was translated into Modern French and Modern English as if it were written as \u201cleurs.\u201d I will be using what was likely Pisan\u2019s \u201cleur,\u201d and pronouncing it as [lewr].<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As many Old French diphthongs and triphthongs were transitioning from their Classical Latin pronunciations to their Modern French pronunciations, I researched their Old French pronunciation. I will be using pronunciations from the source below, as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201ceu\u201d (not including as in \u201cDieu\u201d) as [ew]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cau\u201d as [aw]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201caux\u201d as [awks]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">oral \u201coi\u201d as [\u0254j]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">nasal \u201coi\u201d as [\u00f5j]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">oral \u201ci\u00e9\u201d as [je]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">nasal \u201cie\u201d as [j\u1ebd]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cou\u201d as [\u0254w]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cai\u201d as [aj]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">oral \u201cue\u201d as [we]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">nasal \u201cue\u201d as [w\u1ebd]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cieu\u201d as [jew]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">oral \u201cei\u201d as [ej]<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">nasal \u201cei\u201d as [\u1ebdj]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOy\u201d is not listed in this table, as it was an irregular Old French spelling, I am treating it the same as the more common \u201coi\u201d and pronouncing it as listed above. \u201cUoy\u201d was an irregular spelling and is also not listed, so I am treating it as \u201cuoi,\u201d which I believe would be pronounced as [k\u0254wi].
