Mount Holyoke now has international student affinity groups that can help students create community with others from their home countries.
The International Student Organizing Committee (ISOC) under the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives, formerly known as the International Student Orientation Committee, began as a group dedicated to welcoming new international students to campus.
Originally focused on orientation, in 2013 ISOC grew into a year-round initiative dedicated to fostering a global community at Mount Holyoke. It became a bridge between international students, campus resources, and the wider student body—uplifting voices, supporting intercultural events, and celebrating the diversity that defines our campus.
ISOC has long held traditions that bring the international community together—from welcoming new students during International Orientation to celebrating cultures at Global Fest (formerly the International Dinner). Events like Friendsgiving and the newly introduced International Tassel Ceremony (2023) continue to reflect our commitment to connection, celebration, and belonging. These gatherings, both new and old, strengthen our global ties and create lasting memories across cultures and class years.
