Pictured above are members of La Unidad, 1993. At the time, La Unidad occupied the Wilder basement, which experienced frequent flooding and blocked members from entering at certain times.

As a result of the Coalition (a multicultural group advocating for numerous demands), the Latina community at Mount Holyoke was approved for a multicultural space outside of the Wilder Basement – now known as the Eliana Ortega Cultural House. This shows the blueprints of the house, which officially opened on November 15th, 1995. Originally, the house was shared between Latinas and indigenous people, with the Zowie Banteah Cultural Center for Indigenous Students occupying the second floor.
In 1995, La Unidad invited Dolores Huerta to speak at Mount Holyoke. Huerta is one of the leaders of the United Farm Workers and a grassroots activist.
