There are certainly gaps in our archival record: events that were not documented, student orgs of which there is no record, and more. The Mount Holyoke College Archives and Special Collections is dedicated to collecting materials that help fill these gaps. We collect letters, diaries, photographs, digital records, ephemera, videos, and a variety of other original materials.
It is of critical importance that we simultaneously look to document the past and preserve the present. We are actively engaged in student org outreach and hope to compile records for all the LGBTQ+ orgs that currently exist. Over the past year, the Archives has met with all current LGBTQ+ org leaders to facilitate this process.
We welcome and encourage donations from alums and all community members. As part of our LGBTQ Alum Oral History Project, we are committed to recording silenced and erased histories on campus. Please visit the Archives’ website for more information about donating materials or email archives@mtholyoke.edu.
