This tiny house, located in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado is, on first look pretty cute and unique. From seeing the exterior, I initially thought it would be an interesting cabin to find out more about.
Unfortunately, like many currently popular interior design trends, I find this tiny house to be over designed. In such a small space, I find minimalism to be a much more effective design principle. The whole point of living in a tiny home is reducing clutter, and the excess decoration in this home feels overwhelming and even tacky.
Many elements of this house feel like a much larger house (at least 1,000 square feet) crammed into a 220 square foot space. I will admit that the use of pennies in the bathroom instead of floor tiles I find intriguing, but seeing it in this picture, I do not like it. The glass herringbone tile on the bathroom walls I also find pretty, but it is yet another example of cramming an overly busy design element into an incredibly small space.
