Removing Distracting Objects from Photos in Photoshop

If you went on vacation over spring break, you may have some pictures that have more tourists cluttering up the image than you would like. The patch tool in PhotoShop is a great way to edit out distractions such as tourists in travel photos and many other bothersome objects. The below tutorial will walk you through using the content-aware patch tool in PhotoShop.

Using the patch tool, you can select a desired section of the image to be removed in a similar fashion as using the lasso tool. Once selected, you can click and drag the center of your selection to another area and, in the content-aware mode, PhotoShop will populate your initial selection with similar content from the region you’ve indicated. The tutorial above shows examples of this process and how to get the most out of this tool in PhotoShop.
