If you are filming interviews, recording audio, or taking identifiable photographs of others for your project, you need to obtain a release – Â permission from your subject to use the photograph, audio or video of them in your published project. One option is to obtain and keep an email from each subject where they explicitly grant you permission. It’s usually easier to get your subjects to sign a standard release form.
There are numerous release forms available on the web that will serve this purpose. Remember young minors can not legally give permission to use their voice or images, e.g. if you need to record elementary school children for your project, you will need their parents’ permission.
