Need to get audio from a\u00a0cassette tape onto your computer or multimedia project?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We can help you digitize audio into GarageBand or Audacity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Use Audacity<\/strong> if you want a simple method and basic editing capabilities. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

GarageBand<\/strong> is preferable if you would like to use the audio for extensive re-mixing or mashup.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Here’s how:<\/p>\n

First check:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. This is a\u00a0USB audio converter.\u00a0Make sure it is hooked up to the computer and the cassette deck!
    \n(the video consultants will be glad to check connections for you)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    2. \u00a0Check the menu under the Apple icon<\/p>\n

    \nSystems Preferences > Sound\u00a0    \"Apple<\/a><\/p>\n

    Make sure that the Sound Input is set to USB Audio CODEC<\/p>\n

    \"Sound<\/a><\/p>\n

    To capture audio into GarageBand<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Open GarageBand and select “Voice” as your project type<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \"VoiceGband\"
      \n<\/a>2. \u00a0 \u00a0Create a new track and select “input 1 & 2” as your input. \u00a0Then click the arrow by the indicated microphone below the input selection.<\/p>\n

      3. \u00a0In the window that pops up,\u00a0select USB Audio CODEC (the converter box) under input device<\/p>\n

      4. \u00a0Start recording on GarageBand and then press play on the cassette player.<\/p>\n

      You can use the show input button (on the far right of the 3 buttons under the track name) to hear the music as you record<\/p>\n

      This same process can be used to record your audio\u00a0into Audacity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      In \u00a0Audacity Preferences, verify that\u00a0USB Audio CODEC is selected as the input.<\/p>\n
