Five Perspectives

[slideshow_deploy id=’569′]
Five simple bound, white covered books stand upright in a circle. On the cover of each reads a different word, written in gold and outlined in red: “Bound”, “Passion”, “Broken”, “Support”, and “Devotion”. On the back of each, in similar fashion are single, hand-drawn images: a heart divided by a heart monitor line, a rose, a letter with a shoe print impression, a plate of heart-shaped chocolates, and two interlocked hearts. The card stock covers of each open to reveal pages of handmade cotton paper with poems inked onto them.

Each book explores different perspectives of relationships: that of blood relatives, that of new couples, that of broken hearts, that of friendships, and that of well-established partnerships. While this is by no means the extent of every possible relationship between any two people, it gives a glimpse into different mental and emotional realities of interactions. In doing so this collection of five individual works attempts to prompt deeper thinking and conversation into what these states and relationships are like for others.
