L<\/b> is for <\/span>Lesbian (Bisexual) Alliance (LA\/LBA)<\/strong>, <\/span>Audre Lorde<\/strong>,<\/span> Laverne Cox<\/strong>, <\/span>lesbian<\/strong>,<\/span><\/p>\n

Lesbian Connection<\/i><\/strong>, <\/span>Lyon\u2019s Pride<\/strong>, and<\/span> Love & Rockets<\/i><\/strong> !<\/span><\/p>\n

The first official queer student organization at Mount Holyoke was the <\/span>Lesbian Alliance<\/strong>, which was established in 1976. \u201cThe organization was non-hierarchical in nature and its goal was to \u2018provide for the emotional and social needs of gay women and women of different sexualities.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDue to a unanimous vote taken at an internalized homophobia workshop held November 10th, 1988, the Lesbian Alliance was renamed the <\/span>Lesbian Bisexual Alliance<\/strong> (LBA)<\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Audre Lorde <\/strong>(1934-1992) was a self-described \u201cblack, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet.\u201d Some of her best known works include <\/span>The Cancer Journals<\/span><\/i> (1980) and <\/span>Sister Outsider<\/span><\/i> (1984). –<\/span>poetryfoundation.org<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Lesbian Connection<\/i><\/strong> \u201cis the free worldwide forum of news, ideas and information for, by and about lesbians. We\u2019ve been publishing this bimonthly magazine since 1974, and we mail issues out via snail mail in plain brown envelopes. Creating perhaps the most complex women characters, Jaime Hern\u00e1ndez\u2019s <\/span>Love & Rockets <\/span><\/i>series challenges gender roles and pushes the boundaries of the comic book medium.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
