{"id":87,"date":"2016-09-26T23:37:23","date_gmt":"2016-09-26T23:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/commons.mtholyoke.edu\/techtools\/?p=87"},"modified":"2016-09-26T23:44:31","modified_gmt":"2016-09-26T23:44:31","slug":"finding-educators-to-follow-on-twitter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/commons.mtholyoke.edu\/techtools\/finding-educators-to-follow-on-twitter\/","title":{"rendered":"Finding Educators to Follow on Twitter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once you have created a Twitter account, as described in the <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.mtholyoke.edu\/techtools\/twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\">previous post<\/a>, you will want to \u00a0follow the education conversations on Twitter and identify a small group of educators to follow whose work and tweets interest you.<\/p>\n<p>Use these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teachthought.com\/twitter-hashtags-for-teacher\/\" target=\"_blank\">list of education related hashtags<\/a> to follow current conversations on Twitter and search Twitter for interesting tweets. \u00a0Watch the Twitter stream to identify some educators who are publishing information that interests you.<\/p>\n<p>To verify whether these are accounts worth following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the person&#8217;s profile\u00a0page by clicking on their <strong>@name<\/strong> in Twitter.<\/li>\n<li>Check out their profile to see their interests.<\/li>\n<li>Read some of their tweets. \u00a0A profile that contains only or mostly tweets of\u00a0advertisements will\u00a0probably be less useful than someone who is posting original content.<\/li>\n<li>Check this profile for the \u00a0number of people following an account.
