A familiar grants special abilities to its master and increases in power, as given in\u00a0Animal Companions, Familiars, and Mounts<\/a>\u00a0in the Additional section. Your Proficiency Score increases, as concerns your familiar, is considered 0 when you first take this and increases with your Proficiency Score from there. Any special abilities apply only when you and familiar are within 1 mile of each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If a familiar is lost or dies, it can be replaced 1 week later through a specialized ritual that costs 3 gp per Proficiency Score of the familiar.
