On a successful save the target takes half damage, on a failure the target takes full damage, and on a critical failure the target takes double damage and cannot use any abilities that rely on Devout Follower. To many deities, casting or attempting to cast this spell on a follower of your own deity without significant cause is anathema and doing so causes you to lose any abilities that rely on Devout Follower for the next 24 hours.
