As a mathematics professor, I aim to both teach students mathematics and also empower students at all levels to see themselves as mathematicians. I consider my pedagogy to be heavily influence by feminist pedagogy, queer pedagogoy, and (more specifically) bell hooks’ concept of engaged pedagogy as described in her Teaching Trilogy. <\/em>Since Fall 2021, I have been using various alternative grading techniques in my courses and am always happy to chat about these experiences.
