We stayed in Shaoyuan building 8. I stayed in room 521, 1. You get a card for your room and to use the elevator. In the room, there is a desk, chair, closet space, bed, sheets, AC. To use the electricity (any lights, AC, etc), you have to put a card in a slot. (you can use your key card, but it easy to forget it and is a pain to always take it out and put back in, so I used my one card and left it in.)
-> funny story about the one card… When I left to the airport, I had forgotten it and left it behind. If you do that method, I recommend leaving a different card that is not as valuable or don’t forget your one card. (Since I left earlier than my classmates, I had one of them bring it back for me. Good thing I remembered in time to ask. phew!)
On the 4th floor, there are 2 laundry machines and a dryer (I do not recommend using the dryer. It is better to hang dry. I heard some people’s clothes got ruined from the dryer before). To wash one load, you will need five 1yuan coins. If you don’t have any, you can go to the desk by the elevator and ask for change.
There is a small convenience store in the dorm. It is slightly more expensive than WuMei for some things, for example their drinks (by about 5mao more for some drinks).
