Modern Woodsy Cabins

One element really fueling the tiny house industry is online short term rentals such as Airbnb, or in this case, Getaway. Additionally, the widespread sharing of images online on social media is making these short term rentals more popular.

These modern cabins, designed by Harvard Graduate School of Design students, and located in various locations in nature, outside of populous cities are rented online by Getaway, as a more comfortable and stylish alternative to a camping trip.

One thing I really enjoy about these cabins is how simple they are. While Jacob Witzling’s Octagonal cabin from the last post was full of extra design elements such as the eight roof peaks in the loft, the Getaway cabins are sleek boxes, with large windows meant to showcase the forest views. All of these cabins, however, rely on the beauty of the natural grain of the wood, and emphasize the simplicity in an attempt to get closer to nature.
