Crossing streets in Beijing is different than anywhere in the U.S. In Beijing, cars go first before people, so be careful if you are not used to it. Best way to cross is with other people
There are also lot of bikes on campus. It surprised me how many bikes there were. I have never seen so many bikes before. There were some students from the other colleges in the program who rented bikes, so if you do not want to walk to class, you can rent a bike instead. Usual walk from the dorm to classroom is about 15-20min.
