The New Age

The New Age begins with the founding of the Cheala Empire, where the shorthand “CE” derives from, though there is a movement in academic circles to rename “CE” for Common Era. During this age, there have been several shorter periods beginning with the Cheala Empire into the Dark Years, then to the Dynasties of Kings followed by the Middle Years and into Contemporary History. The events of each are titled below, backlogging the events such that the most recent top the list.

Future Events

The following, from One Shot Games, are set in a future time in Edinose.

Contemporary History, 1100 CE – Today

From the start of the Constant War between Evevon and Phamos through to the present day, Contemporary History are those years within living memory for the average lifespans. For some, those extremely long-lived, might remember back to the final years of the Dynasties of Kings while other elders remember only into the past half century.

The Middle Years, 970 CE – 1099 CE

These years saw the founding of half a dozen new kingdoms and the flourishing of other young nations. The beginning of this era is marked by the founding of Innarea, the fourth region to break from Bakianna’s control, leaving it with the region it remains to the present day. It concludes with the onset of the Constant War, passing into recent memory.

Dynasties of Kings, 716 CE – 968 CE

The time of the Dynasties of Kings marks the rebuilding of the northern regions once controlled by the Cheala Empire and the expansion of monarchies. It begins with the founding of Bakianna and concludes with the end of the Fracture War of that same kingdom, marking the final decline of that northern power.

The Dark Years, 501 CE – 716 CE

Aptly named, the Dark Years, which begins from the Destruction of 501 and continues through to, at the latest, 716 with the founding of Bakianna, is a period right after magic was laid low. This resulted in many regions struggling for survival, with the worst hit being the region controlled by the Cheala Empire, as the nation collapsed. The end date of this time is debated as some regions recovered more quickly than others and some scholars argue that the Dark Years lasted only until the mid to late 5th century.

Cheala Empire, 0 CE – 501 CE

From the founding of the Cheala Empire to the Destruction of 501, this period invokes mixed feelings. For descendents of the empire, this is seen as a golden age while those whose ancestors were oppressed or attacked by the empire, view this time with distaste. Beyond the northern regions, little distinguishes this time for other nations from times before. All though acknowledge the great changes wrought by the Destruction of 501 and mark this as a major turning point for the continent.
