Labs are an integral part of most statistics courses. In our model, one faculty member and two instructors team-taught the course. The faculty member was responsible for delivering the main course content in two weekly lectures, while one laboratory instructor was responsible for delivering content specific to SPSS, a common statistical software program, in weekly 50-minute labs. A second instructor assisted the learner who was blind during the lab session. The learner used JAWS in tandem with SPSS and when we tested the labs with an accessibility consultant prior to the start of the semester, it was clear that it would be beneficial for the second instructor to help manage these two software programs. The goal was for the learner to work as independently as they could but have the assistance of the lab instructors should they need it.
