Feedback

Feedback helps us improve our work and efficiency. Some perceive feedback as negative, but it’s quite the opposite. Through feedback we can see our work through a different perspective, re-evaluate our plan, and execute a new one. When we receive feedback from a supervisor/ teacher, we have to see it as a form of development, the only way to advance forward is to change the habits that hold us back. For example, when learning how to cook, we expect some sort of feedback, maybe it’s too salty or undercooked, and the only way to improve our skills is by receiving this feedback and executing it in the next dish.

It’s the same for assignments and work environments; the only way to strive for better results is by willingly accepting this constructive criticism. When unpacking this feedback, first focus on what parts are mentioned first, they are the most important. Then think back, revise your initial plan, and see what can be changed using this feedback. Not all feedback means change, sometimes it highlights the parts we did well. We can also revise the good parts and compare them with the ones that need to be improved. In this way we can use our own work as a guide to form a better plan.
