After a vote of the staff editorial board, the newspaper officially changed its name from Choragos back to The Mount Holyoke News in 1983. Considering how controversial the original name change was, one might think this reversion would be a welcome change. However, some students felt that the issue of the name change should have been discussed with the entire campus before being decided upon. Although the paper shifted away from Choragos’ radical political streak, it continued to cover major student movements such as protests for divestment from South African corporations during apartheid.
