With the help of an alumna donor, the staff of The Mount Holyoke News purchased new computers and scanners in 1989, allowing them to transition from the old-fashioned cut and paste method of production to the digital age. During this time, MHN was produced for the first time, fully in-house, whereas previously, printing had been outsourced.
Another technological leap occurred in 1996, when under editor-in-chief Elizabeth Cook, class of 1996, The Mount Holyoke News became the first college newspaper of a women’s college to be published online. Being on the internet made it easier to access the MHN than ever before.
