Facilities

The Fimbel Maker & Innovation Lab is located on the first floor of Prospect Hall. The space is open for general use unless scheduled for a class, workshop or other event.

Kitchen and Lounge

Upon entering the Fimbel Lab, you will arrive at the Fimbel Lounge. This space is great for anyone in the MHC community to hang out, watch TV, or use the kitchen facilities. Please swipe in with your one card at the Greeter Desk.

The Fimbel Lounge kitchen is provided for the community to explore the science of cooking. Meals made in the Fimbel Lab are encouraged to be made from scratch as much as possible.

Multipurpose Room and Brainstorming Room

The Fimbel Lab has two configurable dust-free spaces.

The multipurpose room, the larger of the two spaces, is typically used as a classroom space for courses in need of the Fimbel Lab equipment.

The brainstorming room is a smaller, more intimate space that is usually kept available for general use throughout the day. The brainstorming room includes additional equipment such as a laminator, printer and large format printer.

General Workspace and Wood & Metal Working Shop

Students work on projects in the Fimbel Lab general workspace

The General Workspace and Wood & Metal Working Shop are our two main spaces equipped for making. Everyone must sign our waiver and wear closed-toe shoes before entering these spaces. Please note that food and drinks are not allowed in these spaces. We recommend signing up for a skill badge to keep track of your trainings and what equipment you can use independently. If you would like to request a tour, hold an event, or host a workshop in these spaces, please fill out our request form. See below for a list of equipment available for use.

Equipment

All of the equipment in the Fimbel Lab is available for student use. Reservations and training are required for some of the equipment. Contact a staff member for help with any of the equipment.
