Workmen at Harriet Boyd’s Gournia excavation site
In 1904 Edith Hall (second row, far right) traveled to Crete to assist Harriet Boyd at her Gournia excavation site. Hall’s primary qualification for the job was her ability to ride a horse, but ultimately she was chosen because she was recommended by Richard B. Seager (Boyd’s colleague).
