Sketch of Stele
Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, Donor Files, “Louise Fitz-Randolph,” Original Letters, Folder 1, South Hadley, MA.
This life-size sketch of a stele fragment was drawn by Bernice Cartland from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York on June/July 9th, 1917. The sketch was attached to a letter from Cartland and according to the letter, the fragment was discolored, which made it “less attractive.” However, it was in good condition and if Randolph wanted the fragment for her exhibition at Mount Holyoke or for her own personal studies, Cartland was more than happy to send it to her.
