Egyptian Scarab with gold mount
Date Made: 1570-1070 BCE (New Kingdom)
Accession Number: MH 1943.6.A.J
Type: Jewelry
This scarab was probably used as a ring because the mount of the hammered gold sheet has tubular ends attaching to a hoop of a finger-ring. The design on top shows a stylized lotus blossom. It has a swivel mount that was common for signet-rings. The underside of the scarab could be used a seal. Also a gift from Caroline Ransom Williams.
