Angel (pinnacle from the Maestà altarpiece)
One of the more valuable works donated by Hill, Duccio’s Angel has served as an educational tool, exemplifying the High Gothic period in art. Mount Holyoke alumnae Penelope Hayes studied the engraved, gold halo painted by this famous 13th century artist; students continue to research this painting in classes today.
