This sculpture is believed to be a forgery because of its mix of 14th century and later Italian influences. The hairband is completed, but the woman’s hair is not, suggesting that the artist wanted to achieve a falsely broken look to authenticate the piece. Hill collected many of the works in her collection from antique stores, which accounts for the assortment of values and types of art.
