Capital with human and animal figures
This 12th century capital is characteristic of the Hill Collection, which includes many medieval architectural fragments. Carved on all sides with fighting men and beasts, this capital was meant to be viewed all the way around. Violent motifs were common in Romanesque and Early Gothic architecture to scare church-goers submission.
