Gournia Octopus Stirrup Jar

This unique jar is a wonderful example of the type of pottery that Boyd uncovered and Hall cataloged while on Gournia. The outside of the jar is covered with an octopus and his tentacles. The jar also features two small handles at the top. Courtesy of Gournia, Vasiliki and other prehistoric sites on the isthmus of Hierapetra, Crete; excavations of the Wells-Houston-Cramp expeditions, 1901, 1903, 1904.
