A Brief Overview of the History of Romance Languages Course
This is the homepage for an overall course project, which consists of linguistic analyses of medieval texts between the 10th and the 14th centuries from current Spain, France, and Italy. Each individual student project includes the following sections: 1) A brief socio-historical introduction. 2) The section of the text that they will be analyzing, along with the transcription to the modern standard and the translation into English. 3) The etymological comment of relevant words/phrases specifying how they evolved. 4) And an audio recording of the text, along with an explanation about how graphemes were pronounced at the time when the text was produced.
