Le samedi février 4 à environ 12h00, j’ai quitté ma maison avec ma mère et mon père pour aller à l’aéroport de San Francisco. Comme d’habitude, j’étais en retard, mais j’ai insisté passer le temps de détente et calme avec mes parents parce que je ne vais pas revoir d’ici tôt. Nous sommes arrivés à l’aéroport environ 13h, juste à l’heure pour entrer l’aéroport ensemble, obtenir ma carte d’embarquement, et enregistrer mes valises. Et puis, c’était le moment— j’ai dit au revoir à ma famille, ma ville, et tout ce qui est familier. J’étais inspirée profondément et je suis passée par le contrôle de sécurité toute seule. À 14h40, j’ai embarqué un vol de Air France à Paris.

Saturday, February 4th around 12pm, I left my house with my mom and dad to go to San Francisco Airport. As usual, I was late, but I insisted on making sure my last few moments with my parents were enjoyable, relaxed, and calm because it will be almost 5 months before I see them again. We arrived at the airport around 1pm, just in time for us to go into the airport together, get my boarding pass, and check my bags. Checking my bags took way too long because, as usual, I overpacked. And then the moment arrived—I said goodbye to my family, my city, and all that was familiar to me. I took a deep breath and proceeded through airport security all alone. At 2:40pm, I boarded my Air France flight to Paris, France.
