Scrying works like clairvoyance, except that the image you receive is less precise and insufficient for Teleport or similar spells. Instead of creating an eye in a set location within 500 feet, you instead create an eye that appears just above the target. You can choose a target either by name or by touching one of its possessions or a piece of its body. The effect of scrying depends on the target’s Will save. On a successful save the spell fails and the target is Bolstered against Scrying, on a failure the spell succeeds, and on a critical failure the spell succeeds, and the target is completely unaware of the eye. If you have not met the target in person, the DC to detect Scrying is 2 lower, and if you are unaware of the target’s identity, perhaps because you found an unknown creature’s fang at a crime scene, the DC is instead 10 lower. The eye can follow the target for the duration of the spell. Scrying is on the Arcane and Occult Spell Lists.
Heighten (+2): For each Spell Slot of the Heightened Spell Levels (8, 10), inflict disadvantage on the Will Save.
Level 8 or 9 Spell Slot. The target takes disadvantage on their Will Save and the range of the spell becomes planar.
Level 10 Spell Slot. The target takes double disadvantage on their Will Save.
