As you cast this spell, you write the secret text on paper, parchment, or another equivalent surface. When you cast this, designate specific individuals who are not affected by this spell. Creatures unaffected can see the secret text as if it were normal text.
A creature who is affected by the spell sees unintelligible writing and must make a Will Save. On a success the creature believes the text to be unintelligible script while on a failure a creature is affected by a subtle persuasion which lasts 30 minutes. Common persuasions include, “Close this book and leave,” or “Forget this note.” A critical success on the Will save makes the creature aware that the writing is not what is appears to be.
Creatures with abilities that bypass illusion tags, such as the True Seeing spell, and make a successful or better Will save can read the secret text unimpeded. Dispel Magic removes Illusory Script and the secret message whereas Erase can remove the Illusory Script while leaving the secret text untouched and visible to all. Illusory Script is on the Arcane and Occult Spell Lists.
Heighten (+2): Using a Level 4 Spell Slot and higher, the duration becomes indefinite.
