You and other targets travel to the Astral Plane, leaving your bodies in a state of suspended animation which does not require air, food, sleep, or water to survive. The astral projection of each target resembles their original bodies and gear exactly with the exception of a silvery cord extending from the middle of each back about a foot. This cord is the tether between the astral projection and the target’s body and, as long as it remains intact, the target can find their way back to their body. If the tether is ever cut, through very special means, the target’s projection and body is instantly killed.

While in your astral projection form, you can travel freely around the Astral Plane, interacting as normal on the plane with objects and other creatures as well as traveling through any portals on the plane. If you travel through a portal to a different plane, your body and gear are teleported to the plane, and you re-enter your body.

Effects applied to your projection do not affect your body unless you would gain the Dying condition. If your projection gains the Dying condition, you are compelled back to your body and your body gains the Enervated 1 condition for 48 hours which cannot be removed earlier by any means. If you dismiss the spell as an action or another creature dispels the magic, all targets are compelled back to their bodies but do not gain the Enervated 1 condition.
