  • Requirements: 1 silver bell (worth 10 silver) as a focus
  • Range: touch
  • Area: 15-foot radius burst
  • Duration: 8 hours

The focus is whisked away until the magic is broken, or the spell expires. When you cast alarm, select a password. Whenever a Small or larger corporeal creature enters the spell’s area without speaking the password, Alarm sends your choice of a psychic alert that awakens you, in which case the spell gains the psychic tag, or an audible alarm with the sound and volume of a hand bell, in which case the spell gains the auditory tag. Either option automatically awakens you and the bell allows each creature in the area to awake if it succeeds at a Perception check with a DC 15. A creature aware of the alarm must succeed at a Stealth check against the Spell DC or trigger the alarm when moving into the area. Alarm is on all Spell Lists.

Heighten (+2): Using a Level 3 Spell Slot and higher, you can specify the criteria for creatures that sound the alarm. For instance, elves or people with red hair.
