Each of these special tapers is dedicated to one of the alignments. Simply burning the candle generates a favorable 30-foot aura for the individual if the candle’s alignment partially or completely matches that of the user. Those who have a partial alignment match add a 1d4 Morale bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks while within 30 feet of the flame. Those who have a complete alignment match add a 1d8 Morale bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks while within 30 feet of the flame.

Those with the Spellcasting Trait with a Divine Source whose alignment completely matches the candle’s alignment operates as if two their Proficiency Score is two higher for purposes of determining what spells they have access to for the next 24 hours. The Divine mage must spend at least a minute within 30 feet of the candle for this benefit. For the next 24 hours, the Divine mage can spend 20 temporary Trait Points on new spells known and, if applicable, new spell slots. Spells known and spell slots gained in this way are lost at the end of the 24 hours, whether used or not, or when the caster next takes a Long Rest.

Except in special cases, a candle burns for 4 hours. It is possible to extinguish the candle simply by blowing it out, so users often place it in a lantern to protect it from drafts and the like. Doing this does not interfere with its magical properties. In addition, burning a candle also allows the owner to cast a Gate spell but the taper is immediately consumed in the process. A candle of invocation is a very rare item.

Crafting Requirements: You must have the Spellcasting trait with the Divine Source and supply a casting of Gate.
