Foxfolk

Foxfolk are vulpine shapeshifters known for their love of both trickery and art. Most are appear as anthropomorphic foxes, but some posses a shape changing ability to become that of another ancestry of slender build with salient eyes. Despite an irrepressible penchant for deception, foxfolk prize loyalty and make true companions. They delight in the arts, particularly riddles and storytelling, and settle in ancestral clans, taking their wisdom from both the living and spirits.

Physical Description: A foxfolk has at least one form, sometimes two or more forms – a single human form, a humanoid fox form, and a fox form. In their human forms, foxfolk tend toward quickness and lithe beauty. In all forms they possess golden, amber, or brilliant blue eyes. In their true, humanoid fox forms, they are covered with a downy coat of auburn fur, although more exotic coloration is possible. Foxfolk who posses a fox form are rare.

Foxfolk live very similar life span to humans however they mature and age at a quicker rate. They reach adulthood around 16, with middle age at 32 and old age around 50. The most venerable of this ancestry live into their 60s.

Foxfolks are sexual dimorphic, with the average height of males around five feet eight inches and females nearly half a foot shorter. Their body mass is similar, making most females weigh slightly less than males.

Society: Foxfolk society is enigmatic, as they prize loyalty among their friends but delight in good-natured mischief and trickery. Foxfolk take pleasure in the pursuit of creative arts and in all forms of competition, especially the telling of stories interwoven with tall tales and falsehoods.

Relations: Foxfolk deal well with elves and samsarans, but their reputation as tricksters follows them when they interact with other ancestries. Many foxfolk, particularly those who dwell in mixed-ancestry societies, choose to hide their true natures and pose as humans in public if they have that option.

Alignment and Religion: Foxfolk tend to be neutral, or of alignments with a neutral component.

In the world of Edinose, most worship Ayhem, Daede, or Haephet.

Adventurers: Keenly interested in adding their own names to the myths and legends of explorers and heroes of old, foxfolk adventurers range across the world. Quick-witted and nimble, they make excellent performers and thieves. It is not uncommon for one to pursue mystic arts, while those few born with white fur and pale eyes usually seek out religious paths.
