This horn appears to be a normal trumpet. It can be sounded as a normal horn with a single action, but if the command word is spoken as a single action and the instrument is then played, it deals force damage to all creatures within a 40-foot cone and inflicts the Deafened condition.
If a horn of blasting is used magically more than once per 24 hours, there is a 20% cumulative chance with each use that it explodes and deals force damage in a 10-foot burst centered on the user. Unless otherwise listed, a horn of blasting is an uncommon item.
- Basic (250 silvers). This deals 4d6 force damage and the Deafened condition lasts 2d6 rounds. A DC 20 Fortitude save halves the damage and negates the Deafened condition. Crystalline objects and creatures take 8d6 force damage with no save unless they are held, worn, or carried by creatures. If the horn explodes, it deals 8d6 force damage.
- Greater (9,000 silvers). This deals 10d6 force damage and the Deafened condition lasts 4d6 rounds. A DC 40 Fortitude save halves the damage and negates the Deafened condition. Crystalline objects and creatures take 20d6 force damage with no save unless they are held, worn, or carried by creatures. If the horn explodes, it deals 20d6 force damage. This item is very rare.
