Spell Book (Fantasy).
A spell book holds the written knowledge necessary to learn and prepare various spells, a necessity for casters with an Arcane Source and a useful luxury for other spellcasters looking to discover additional spells. Each spell book can hold up to 100 spells. The price listed is for a blank spell book. For each spell already listed in a book, add an additional cost based on the following table:
Spell Level | Price |
Level 1 Spell | 5 silvers |
Level 2 Spell | 8 silvers |
Level 3 Spell | 13 silvers |
Level 4 Spell | 20 silvers |
Level 5 Spell | 30 silvers |
Level 6 Spell | 60 silvers |
Level 7 Spell | 90 silvers |
Level 8 Spell | 140 silvers |
Level 9 Spell | 230 silvers |
Level 10 Spell | 380 silvers |
Spell books store the spells that an Arcane spellcaster knows. And, for the most part, an Arcane mage may never need to ‘purchase’ new spells for their book. Most Arcane mages, or others who like having such a tool, will add their new spells to their spellbooks themselves. Such additions cost nothing.
The reason there exists prices for spells in a spell book by level is twofold. Firstly, for any partly filled spell book, one can calculate its cost by totaling the individual cost that each spell adds to the item. Secondly, if there is ever an instance where an Arcane mage is unable to add the spell to the book themself, they may hire someone else to add the spell. If added this way, it is considered to be ‘automatically’ learned and the spellcaster need only pay for the service and the trait points. They do not need to spend the ten minutes of study or make an Arcana check.
