You attempt to paralyze the target, potentially freezing it in place, depending on the outcome of the target’s Will save. On a successful save the target is Slowed 1 for a round, on a failure the target is Paralyzed for a round, and on a critical failure the target is Paralyzed for 4 rounds. At the start of each of its turns, it can attempt a new Will save to reduce the remaining duration by a round or end it entirely on a critical success. Paralyze is on the Arcane and Occult Spell Lists.

Heighten (+1): For each Spell Slot of the Heightened Spell Levels (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10), increase the number of targets by 1.

Level 4 Spell Slot. You can target up to 2 creatures with the humanoid tag.

Level 5 Spell Slot and higher. You can target any creature even if it does not have the humanoid tag. You can target up to 3 creatures.

Level 6 Spell Slot. You can target up to 4 creatures.

Level 7 Spell Slot. You can target up to 5 creatures.

Level 8 Spell Slot. You can target up to 6 creatures.

Level 9 Spell Slot. You can target up to 7 creatures.

Level 10 Spell Slot. You can target up to 8 creatures.
