Spell: Plant Form ~ Level 5

You transform into a Large plant battle form. You must have enough space to expand into or the spell is lost. You count as a plant in addition to your normal tags while in this form. Your gear is absorbed into you and their constant abilities still function, but you cannot activate them. Reduce your number of actions per turn by 1. When you cast this spell, you chose one of the following and gain the attacks, Speeds, and special abilities listed:

  • Flytrap (Large) 
    • Speed: 5 feet
    • Ability: Resistance 10 against acid
    • Melee Attack: Jaws (grab, reach 10 feet, unarmed) with a number of d8s piercing damage equal to half your Proficiency Score and the Grabbed condition
  • Shambling Mound (Large) 
    • Speed: 20 feet, Swim 20 feet
    • Ability: Resistance 10 against electricity
    • Melee Attack: Vine (reach 15 feet, unarmed) with a number of d8s slashing damage equal to half your Proficiency Score
  • Treant (Large) 
    • Speed: 30 feet
    • Ability: you can speak in this form but not well enough to supply Verbal actions
    • Melee Attack: Branch (reach 15 feet, unarmed) with a number of d10s bludgeoning damage equal to half your Proficiency Score
    • Melee Attack: Root (reach 10 feet, trip, unarmed) with a number of d8s bludgeoning damage equal to half your Proficiency Score

You can choose a more specific type of plant to turn into, such as a pitcher plant for flytrap. You also gain the following statistical changes:

  • Ability Score: +2 Strength bonus, +2 Dexterity bonus
  • Armor Class: +2 Deflection bonus, ignore Armor Check Penalty and Speed Penalty from gear
  • Hit Points: +10 temporary Hit Points
  • Attacks: Proficient with the listed attack(s), +5 damage
  • Senses: Gain low vision (60 feet)
  • Ability: resistance 10 against poison

These special statistics can be adjusted only by Insight bonuses, Assist bonuses, advantage, and disadvantage. Your form prevents you from casting spells, speaking, or taking most manipulate actions that require hands. The GM decides if there is doubt about an action. Plant Form is on the Primal Spell List.

Heighten (+2): For each Spell Slot of the Heightened Spell Levels (7, 9), your form increases a size step, your Deflection bonus increases by 1, your temporary Hit Points increase by 10, and your damage bonus increases by 2. If your size is Huge, all your attacks gain Reach of 15 feet. You must have enough space to expand, or the spell is lost. Each size has a Size bonus or penalty to AC: –1 for Large, –2 for Huge, –4 for Gargantuan, –8 for Colossal.

Level 7 or 8 Spell Slot. The following are instead of lower-level versions:

  • Size: Huge (–2 AC)
  • Deflection: +3
  • Hit Points: +20 temporary hit points
  • Attacks: +7 damage

Level 9 Spell Slot and higher. The following are instead of lower-level versions:

  • Size: Gargantuan (–4 AC)
  • Deflection: +4
  • Hit Points: +30 temporary hit points
  • Attacks: +9 damage
